About

When I first started kayaking with family and friends, I had no idea that our
adventures would lead to creating art that has become my passion. We paddled up to
the shorelines along the tributaries of the Chesapeake Bay and discovered a treasure
created by nature-Sea glass! This brackish water turns broken bottles of glass,
discarded as trash, into gorgeous, frosted sea glass. It takes 30 years for broken glass
to tumble and toss (hence the name) through rock, water and sand to develop into the
frosted gems so many seek to find.

I started using sea glass to create jewelry. I learned how to drill holes in the
glass under water with a diamond drill bit. Then came the design of wrapping and the
pieces and making necklaces, earrings, rings, and bracelets.

After I retired from teaching elementary school, my spark for creating engaging
lessons turned to a spark for creating sea glass art. I noticed interesting pieces of
jewelry in thrift shops such as earrings that would make a great body for a butterfly or
brooches that looked like a center piece for the shell of the Maryland Blue Crab. The
spark was ignited. Through thrift shop hunting and friends and family clearing out their
jewelry, I had a nice little collection of jewelry that I cut to combine with sea glass
creating a product I’ve never seen before. The popularity of my unique sea
glass/jewelry art creations has taken me by surprise. I sell my items through an art
gallery, a coastal store, festivals, and from my home workshop. My next and newest
adventure, with the help of family, is presenting my craft through this website.

I never expected a love of finding sea glass would turn into a process that
sparks my creativity to make a piece of art that brings joy to others. It is truly rewarding.

It takes a while to make each handcrafted work of art so please be patient as I
will add items as they are created.

Thank you for visiting my website and supporting me in my love for sea glass art.
